Muskogee Renaissance Fair Fairies

This fair was allot of fun. We decided to go down and check out this fair to see if we might want to have a booth there for next year. There was just something about this fair that made it feel special, I’m not sure what it was. The picture above is me and two of my kids by the MayPole, we were watching the dance. Atmosphere was nice, people were friendly, it was clean, and a nicely designed area. Inside the Castle was nice and cool, a wonderful break from the very hot and humid day. I bought a beautiful rose necklace made from a real rose and my husband bought a Utilikilt– both purchases are perfect additions to our costumes. The wandering musicians were wonderful and they even sung a special song for us about fairy wings! We are seriously going to consider applying to be at this fair next year as a vendor. Norman Medieval Fair and Wichita Great Plains Renaissance Festival

Posted on 4th May 2008 by admin in Faires and Festivals

Both of these fairs were fantastic!

At the Norman Medieval Fair the weather was perfect and there were so many people that attended! We really were happily surprised by how large this fair was. The best thing about this fair was the street performers, very kid friendly and entertaining. This is one we definitely plan on going back to.

The Wichita Great Plains Renaissance Festival had perfect weather as well! Although Sunday the winds were treacherous! This still is by far our favorite fair, since it’s our home-town fair we could be a bit partial. Some of the things we love about this festival: everyone comes in costume. It’s great to see that most people at this fair come in some sort of costume, it enhances the experience for everyone. We also love the King & Queen at this festival! These people never break out of character, and for someone new to the “game” we always feel a bit out of sorts because we don’t know the lingo yet, but they are very gracious, kind and the most personable of all that we have met- at fairs which we have only attended and those which we sold at.

So after a very busy month of April we’re relaxing a bit and looking at adding some new fairs to our schedule this summer. We will be sure to post any that we will be at to our blog so you can come see us.

Medieval Fair of Norman

We are so excited to be attending and being a part of Oklahoma’s largest weekend event! The Medieval Fair of Norman will be April 4, 5, & 6, 2008 at Reeves Park in Norman, Oklahoma. We’ve added some new products, in addition to our headwreaths and magic wands we will also be selling pointy princess hats, wizard hats, wizard wands, fairy wings, fairy dust, and hair accessories. We will be one of over 200 artisans, so come by our booth and see us!

Northwest Arkansas Renaissance Faire

This was our second renaissance fair, and after a great show at the Great Plains Festival our expectations may have been a bit high. Everything was in place for this fair . . . the street actors, the musicians, the dancers, the rock climbing wall, food vendors, artisans . . . but where was the crowd? The fair had very little foot traffic and those that were there were not quick to make any purchases. We came home with a big profit loss. But we did meet some great people, including the Barbarian Battle folks who traveled from the Kansas City area and were in the same predicament that all of us vendors were. This would be a great fair if it were properly advertised or possibly moved to a better weekend so it didn’t conflict with other events. We would like to see this fair grow and be supported by it’s local community before we return. Visit their website: Northwest Arkansas Renaissance Faire

Great Plains Renaissance Festival

This was our first and, so far the best, Renaissance Faire we have been a vendor at. The atmosphere and people were everything you would expect and more! The entertainment was exceptional, with musical acts, contact jousting, and the Heavy Metal Combat guys– even the street characters were great as was the Royal Court. The best thing about this faire was the fact that most people visiting the festival were in costume! For a vendor that sells accessories and/or items that enhance someone’s costume, this is the perfect event.
Come and see us at the upcoming 5th Annual Spring Great Plains Renaissnace Festival, April 19th-20th, 2008.
