The adventures of a Renaissance Festival Artisan

Northwest Arkansas Renaissance Faire

This was our second renaissance fair, and after a great show at the Great Plains Festival our expectations may have been a bit high. Everything was in place for this fair . . . the street actors, the musicians, the dancers, the rock climbing wall, food vendors, artisans . . . but where was the crowd? The fair had very little foot traffic and those that were there were not quick to make any purchases. We came home with a big profit loss. But we did meet some great people, including the Barbarian Battle folks who traveled from the Kansas City area and were in the same predicament that all of us vendors were. This would be a great fair if it were properly advertised or possibly moved to a better weekend so it didn’t conflict with other events. We would like to see this fair grow and be supported by it’s local community before we return. Visit their website: Northwest Arkansas Renaissance Faire

Great Plains Renaissance Festival

This was our first and, so far the best, Renaissance Faire we have been a vendor at. The atmosphere and people were everything you would expect and more! The entertainment was exceptional, with musical acts, contact jousting, and the Heavy Metal Combat guys– even the street characters were great as was the Royal Court. The best thing about this faire was the fact that most people visiting the festival were in costume! For a vendor that sells accessories and/or items that enhance someone’s costume, this is the perfect event.
Come and see us at the upcoming 5th Annual Spring Great Plains Renaissnace Festival, April 19th-20th, 2008.
